In response to recent workforce changes, an Employment & Resource Fair is being organized for employees of Mettiki Coal. The event welcomes all current and former Mettiki Coal workers, their spouses, and staff from secondary companies affected by recent layoffs. The fair will provide attendees with valuable employment opportunities, resources, and support services to help navigate career transitions.
The event will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the National Youth Science Academy, located at 494 Riverstone Road, Davis, WV 26260. Workers and families are encouraged to attend to explore new opportunities and connect directly with employers. Attendees can apply for open positions, register in the jobseeker database, sign up for the virtual job fair, and come prepared to speak with potential employers.
In addition to employment opportunities, the fair will offer a variety of resources to support career development and personal planning. Participants can receive assistance creating resumes, learn about education and training opportunities, access community resources, and obtain guidance on retirement planning and unemployment benefits.
This event is being hosted in partnership with Workforce West Virginia, the Tucker County Development Authority, and the National Youth Science Academy, reflecting a collaborative effort to support the community and workers affected by recent changes in the coal industry.
For more information or questions, attendees are encouraged to contact the State Rapid Response Unit at (304) 558-8414 or via email at WFWVDWS@wv.gov. West Virginia’s WIOA/Rapid Response program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Labor through an award totaling $875,748.00.
